BIFMA Membership Services:

  • Standards development and maintenance of office furniture product safety and performance standards.
  • Input into the development of international product standards.
  • Monitoring and influencing the application of national codes.
  • Summary statistical data on North American commercial furniture industry performance is available to all members.  More detailed statistical data is available to contributing member companies.
  • Data on international office furniture markets.

 Membership categories:

Regular Member:  Any business which is primarily engaged in design, development, marketing, and fulfillment of office or institutional (healthcare, education) furniture in North America and which is an entity, or part of an entity, legally organized, operating and validly existing in North America is eligible to be a Regular Member in the Association.  Regular membership dues are based on the applicant company's global sales of furniture product categories listed and defined here.

International Member:  Any business which is engaged in design, development, marketing and fulfillment of office or  institutional (healthcare, education) furniture into or outside of North America but which is not legally organized, operating and validly existing in North America is eligible to be an International Member in the Association. International Membership dues are based on the applicant company's North American sales of relevant furniture product categories listed and defined here.  

Supplier Member:  Any business which is engaged in supplying goods, parts, or components to the office and institutional (healthcare, education) furniture industry and which is an entity, or part of an entity, legally organized, operating and validly existing inside or outside of North America is eligible to be a Supplier Member in the Association.  Supplier Member dues are based on annual sales to the North American industry.  See the application form referenced below for details.

Service Member:  Any business which is engaged in providing services to the office and institutional (healthcare, education) furniture industry and which is an entity, or part of an entity, legally organized, operating and validly existing inside or outside  of North America is eligible to be a Service Member in the Association.  Service Member  annual dues are a flat annual fee of $3,000 as stated in the application form referenced below.

Community Member:  Any business which is engaged in activities to which the services of BIFMA may be relevant and pertinent, expect for those that qualify for Regular, International, Supplier or Service Member status, and those that are ineligible for membership are eligible to be a Community Member in the Association.  BIFMA at its sole discretion shall determine relevance and eligibility.  Community Member dues are a flat annual fee of $2,700 as stated in the application form referenced below.

Please Note -  BIFMA membership and conformance with BIFMA testing standards are separate and independent issues.  Membership does not require nor imply that the member’s products have been tested to, or conform with, BIFMA standards.
