The ANSI/BIFMA e3-2019 Furniture Sustainability Standard released in February of 2019 provides measurable, market-based definitions of progressively more sustainable furniture. It establishes performance criteria for addressing environmental and social impacts throughout the supply chain. Tools to help manufacturers have been updated to the 2019 version and are now available.

An e3 Guidance Manual includes the entire e3 Standard and a “TRACI Look-Up Tool” applies to Section 7 of the standard for checking to see if any particular chemical is listed on the standard’s chemical list or by the USEPA. These implementation support tools will help companies meet the standard and document conformance in pursuit of the LEVEL® mark from certification bodies.

BIFMA e3 Support Tools:

  1. Guidance Manual
Similar to a LEED Reference Guide, the Guidance Manual provides helpful suggestions, potential strategies, references, resources and other guidance information that can assist a manufacturer toward specific credit compliance.
    Member price – $400 – Non/Member price – $800 – order here

  2. TRACI Look-Up Tool (applies to Section 7 of e3)
An Excel file useful for pursuing credits in Section 7 of the e3 Standard. The TRACI Look-Up Tool provides a quick way to check to see if a chemical is listed in e3 Annex B and/or USEPA’s Tool for the Reduction and Assessment of Chemical and other Environmental Impacts (TRACI) 2012 dataset.
