Grand Rapids, Mich. – Safety should be a priority in all workplaces so that workers everywhere return home to their families and loved ones safe and sound at the end of each day. That’s why BIFMA has endorsed Safe + Sound Week, June 12–18, 2017.
Safe + Sound Week is co-sponsored by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Safety Council (NSC), the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). It is a nationwide effort in the United States to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces.
During Safe + Sound Week, many companies will showcase their commitment to safety and health as senior leadership and workers collaborate to identify ways to keep their workplaces safe and sustainable for the future. As the trade association for the business and institutional furniture industry, BIFMA’s efforts to help provide healthy, comfortable, and productive workspaces rests on an infrastructure of engineering and materials standards. These standards, founded on centuries of craft and enhanced by ever-advancing science, embody the best of our knowledge on safety, ergonomics, and sustainability.
