Green the Supply Chain with Brand Executives, Policymakers, and Sustainability Experts

After four decades, and numerous attempts by Congress to pass toxic substance reform, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (LCSA) was signed into law on June 22, 2016. The LCSA, which received solid bi-partisan support in both the House and Senate, amends and strengthens the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), the nation’s primary chemicals management law. With the government now empowered to demand the phase-out of a variety of hazardous substances, the impact of the TSCA will require both new practices and coordination across multiple corporate departments such as design and development, materials selection, R&D, supply chain
management and more.

The enactment of the LCSA has signaled the return of Infocast’s Safer Sustainable Products Summit, which will arrive in Washington D.C., May 31 – June 2, 2017. The Summit will build on the success of our previous six editions in this space by bringing together key decision-makers from the EPA, Federal, State and International regulators, along with leading chemical companies, consumer brands, retailers, green chemistry experts, NGOs, and toxicologists.

Brad MillerDirector of Advocacy & Sustainability at BIFMA, and Arthur Weissman, Ph.D., President and CEO of GREEN SEAL will be on a panel entitled "Emerging Sustainability Standards across Supply Chains".

As sustainability grows in value and appreciation within companies and their products, it becomes important to be able to certify or verify these achievements. To fill this need, standards are being developed by various sectors. This panel will bring together a group speakers involved in these efforts at all levels. Participants will learn about the key trends for chemicals in these efforts are and how to prepare for a future where these standards and certifications take on greater significance.

Pre-Summit Alternative Assessment Workshop on Frameworks, Methodologies, Tools for Management and Best Practices will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2017. This workshop will highlight various Alternatives Assessment (AA) frameworks and will discuss various methodologies and tools available for chemical management. In product line focused interactive roundtables, participants will be able to discuss best practices and lessons learned and get views from chemical companies.
