Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act requires that companies traded on US stock exchanges disclose if conflict minerals, such as tantalum, tin, tungsten or gold present in their products originated from the conflict zones. Furniture and components can contain any one of these substances, but it can be difficult for manufacturers and retailers to determine what is in their product, where it comes from and what they must disclose.
